Two Dimensional Design
In this class, you will learn the basics of layout and design. We will cover various methods to lay out a drawing to hold the viewers eye to the page. This course offers basic drawing instruction in the use of line, contour, shading, perspective, and portraiture. Students will complete one project in pencil, then move onto other media, to become familiar with the many techniques of rendering the subject on paper and canvas. Color mixing will be discussed in detail. Students will have the freedom to experiment with a variety of media and choose one for a final project.

For the student who has completed our two-dimensional design class, or those with experience with other studios. We will have a quick review of some of the topics covered in our 2-D design class, then we will delve into the fascinating world of oil painting. Learn how to set up a palette, mix colors, and about different styles of painting. There will be ample time with the instructor to perfect your projects and get answers to your questions. Each student will complete at least two paintings during the 10 week course.

Adult Sculpture
Learn to create unique sculpture from photographs and life. We will start out with the basics: wedging, pinch, coil and slab techniques. Students will then learn to incorporate these various methods into clay sculpture. Sculpt anything; nature, human figure, portrait busts (clay head), animals, abstracts and more in this fun and exciting class. Beginners are welcome!

For the beginning-intermediate potter. We will discuss the various types of clay and glazes and start out with different ways to move clay by hand building. By class 2, we jump onto the wheel to teach basic wheel throwing techniques. Trimming, decorating, altering thrown shapes and glazes will all be covered in this 10 week session. No experience with clay is necessary, and we will touch on some intermediate level topics to satisfy those with previous clay experience. There are plenty of wheels, so you can practice wheel throwing at every class!
